Canouan is accessible by air from North America, UK, Canada and Europe through five major gateways - Barbados (55 min.), Grenada (20 min.), Martinique (60 min.), St. Lucia (40 min.) and Mainland St. Vincent (15 min.) - with connection to Canouan Airport.

From the USA and Canada - via Barbados

Flights from New York's JFK, Newark, Philadelphia, Washington Dulles and Miami on American Airlines, US Airways, Continental Airlines and BWIA, and Air Canada from Toronto to Barbados. From Europe - Via Fort de France

Air France, Air Caraibes, or Corsair from Paris to Forte de France, where a private charter will fly you to Canouan Island. Please contact the Canouan Resort Flight Concierge for details.

Via Barbados

British Airways, Virgin Atlantic, BMI and BWIA from London to Barbados. For convenient air transfers from Barbados to Canouan Island, please contact the Canouan Resort Flight Concierge or the Tamarind Beach Hotel. Scheduled flights are available on specific days of the week from San Juan, Puerto Rico or from Barbados on either American Eagle (www.aa.com), Liat (www.liat.com) or Grenadines Airways. A Shared Charter service is available from Barbarados or Martinique on Twin Propeller Planes or on executive Cessna Citation Jets. Travel tips

Access

St. Vincent and the Grenadines lie between the tropic of Cancer and the Equator, approximately 1.600 miles southeast of Miami. St. Vincent is the largest of the more than 30 islands that comprise the nation, covering roughly 150 square miles. Canouan is reached by air from North America and Europe through six major gateways with connection to Canouan's modern Airport, offering night landing facilities.

Climate

Average daytime temperatures range from 24 C/75 F to 30 C/87 F. Driest season is December to May. The coolest month occur between November and February.

Currency

Canouan uses the local Eastern Caribbean Dollars (EC$). A bank on the island provide exchange services for all major foreign currencies, cash or traveler's cheques.

Visas, vaccinations

Travel with a valid passport. Return tickets are required. No Visa is required for EC citizens and North & South American citizens. No vaccinations are required. US citizen must have a valid passport to fly to the Grenadines.

Roads & transport

There is no taxi service on the island. Transfer from and to the airport are free using the resort shuttle service. Cars can be rented at the resort. A local driving license must be obtained on presentation of your driving license together with a fee of 50 EC$.
